The Fort Wayne Medical Education Program (FWMEP) is located in Northeastern Indiana. Click here to find it on Google Maps.

Residents see patients in the new 21,000 sq. ft. Family Medicine Clinic with a full Electronic Medical Record implemented and four dedicated procedure rooms.

Because residents rotate in all three tertiary hospitals with no competing residents, there is an abundance of pathology, patients, learning opportunities and procedures. There is only nine miles difference between the two farthest hospitals, translating to about fifteen minutes driving time.

Each hospital has its distinct population so you will have access to over1,100 hospital beds with a wide variety of patient types, from inner city, low income patients to those from affluent neighborhoods.

FWMEP has a strong OB program where first year residents average 65 deliveries. You have the option for C-Section training as well as an advanced OB certification.

As a resident in Indiana, you have the opportunity to moonlight starting your second year. Your schedule during the second and third is flexible enough to give you the time and energy to moonlight any month. Unlike many programs, the residency also covers residents’ malpractice insurance.

Fort Wayne was named an All American city in 1982, 1998, and again in 2009.

Fort Wayne was named for General "Mad" Anthony Wayne, who built a fort at the confluence of three rivers in 1794. There were 3 American forts built in Fort Wayne.  The current fort is a replica of the one constructed by Major John Whistler and his men during 1815 — 1816 & was the last fort to stand at the junction of the St. Mary's, St. Joseph, and Maumee Rivers.  It was designed purely for defense against Native Americans, and could be comfortably defended by a relatively small number of men.

Home to a wealth of history, education, industry and entertainment, Fort Wayne is Indiana's 2nd largest city. Click here for more information about Fort Wayne.
